Apple: New Built-in Translation application

Apple introduced a new built-in translator app which comes in handy with the iOS 14 update for iOS users. The Application is solely built for multi-way text and speech translation. The app offers a wide range of language options which makes the app user-friendly.

Update the device to iOS 14:

The phone needs to be updated regarding the operating system, iOS 14 or higher. If the phone is not updated, then the phone will indicate by popping a notification regarding the latest software availability. After the update has been done, the translator app will appear directly on the home screen.

How to operate the Application:

Text Translation:

The Application is reasonably easy to use. Upon entering the app, you will encounter an option to choose the first language (the choice of language for the input) and the second language (the choice of language for the output). After selecting the languages, tap on Done.

To initiate the text translation, tap on entering in the text box, which is present below the selected language tabs. Enter the text, and tap on GO. The translated text will appear below the input text, and tap on the PLAY button to hear the translated text aloud.

Speech Translation:

There is another option to translate the speech, tap the MIC icon, and provide the app with an input. The spoken words will appear and make sure that it matches the desired input.

The translated output automatically appears below the input text, and the output text can be read aloud by tapping on the PLAY button.

Add to favorites :

The app offers an additional feature of saving the text or phrase for future use. Some phrases are used quite frequently and can be saved for later use by tapping the STAR icon below the translated text.

Also, you can look for the meaning of individual words in the translated text by tapping on the BOOK icon next to the Star icon.

There is an option for viewing all the saved and ready to use phrases by tapping the FAVOURITES option at the extreme bottom of the app interface. If you wish to remove any of those saved phrases, swipe left on any protected expression, and an option for UNFAVOURITE will appear in a red-colored box. Tap on the unfavourite option, and the phrase will disappear from the list of saved phrases.

Multi-way conversation:

The app also includes automatic language detection, which helps the user carry out a two-way interactive conversation with different language preferences.

To use this feature, select the two preferred languages, tap on one of the languages to make the text screen appear. Swipe down to the bottom and make sure the automatic detection is enabled.

Change the orientation of the mobile screen to landscape mode. Speak any of the two selected languages after tapping the MICROPHONE button. The app detects the input language and translates it into the other language to provide the user with the output.

Tap the microphone button and speak the desired phrase in another language, and the app will translate it into the first selected language. By this method, two people of varying language descent can interact with each other.

Languages available:

There are several languages available for online translation services, such as Arabic, Mandarin, Korean, German, French, English (U.S, U.K). Also, the app provides the user with the option to download languages for offline use.

Meta Description: The new Built-in Apple translator App comes with the iOS 14 update. It is user-friendly, efficient and can be used for interactive Two-way conversation.
