Google Meet Video Backgrounds: Turn Calls into Forests, Classrooms, & Parties

When you replace a video call background, it not only adds fun but also retains privacy. Now, you can do this with Google Meet as it is supporting video backgrounds.

The search engine giant Google is rolling out many new features to its video chat service, Google Meet. It includes adding video backgrounds to help you make your calls interesting, engaging, and funnier. Now, you can hide your messy room from your co-workers during the calls. Google introduced background replacements with pictures last year. The introduction of video backgrounds is the evolution of these changes.

The previous year brought the perfect opportunity for the video conferencing platforms to grow and shine. The primary reason was the pandemic that forced people to remain inside their homes and follow social distancing. People started looking for online platforms to stay in touch with their friends and family members and do their official works. Similarly, companies and organizations were also in desperate need of something to help them organize remote meetings and collaborate with employees.

Looking at the scenario, several tech firms began introducing video conferencing apps with new features in March 2020. Many emerged as winners, and many companies lost in the race, such as video conferencing services like Skype that left to the wayside.  On the contrary, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Google Meet have managed all to find a substantial audience.

These video conferencing platforms did everything and are still doing every possible thing to provide a seamless user experience. It includes introducing many new features and bug fixes to these apps. This is particularly true when talking about Google.

Since last year, March, the search engine giant has introduced countless updates to its video conferencing app, Google Meet. It released its latest feature on April 21, 2021. The search engine giant has updated the presentation view of its video conferencing app, Google Meet. Now, it has allowed users to display more video tiles during their chat through video conferencing.

Besides, the users can also unpin something that’s being presented. Above all, the search engine giant has planned and provided millions of its users the ability to pin multiple speakers during the call. The search engine giant may announce the feature in the coming months.

Another update that deserves applause is the introduction of the Light Adjustment system. It will increase the brightness of the user’s video automatically if they are not exposed properly. Additionally, The video conferencing app Google Meet will get a Data Server Mode for its mobile application. Undoubtedly, all these add-ons deserve great appreciation, the most exciting among these are the introduction of video call backgrounds. These will allure a wide range of audiences that may result in compelling a massive number of users to use the services.

Three Video Backgrounds Are Available At Launch

Custom backgrounds are the most common feature that you can find in any video conferencing app. If any user wants to hide or change their room’s background, they can go to the settings and change the custom background with the image they have chosen. The feature is handy as it improves privacy and makes your calls entertaining.

In upcoming weeks, Google Meet is going to witness expansion regarding video backgrounds. Now, the users will be able to replace their background during the calls with a video. Replacing video backgrounds is very easy for the users on any device or operating system, whether they are using Windows, iOS, or Android.

For example, many users have already experienced it while setting Zoom backgrounds on Android and iOS devices. The entire process was straightforward in setting Zoom backgrounds as users need to click on the More option while taking part in the video call and then click on the Virtual Background” option.

Here, the users got the option to choose their favorite video background. Now, in the case of Google Meet, the search engine giant has made it clear that the replacement option for video backgrounds is limited at the time of release. Google will release three replacement options for video backgrounds, including a forest, a party, and a classroom.

However, the search engine giant has said that they will announce some more expansion of these features very soon. But, for now, Google has confirmed only these three features. Even these features have been introduced in a limited way; it still sounds fantastic.

Indeed, many users may not be willing to use video backgrounds in any serious official or business meetings. It is the perfect way to liven up the virtual weekend hangouts with colleagues, friends, and family get-togethers. Henceforth, it will be exciting to see what new features and updates Google will add in the near future.
