 Asus ROG Strix G15 is an impressive gaming laptop available at a pretty affordable price.

Finally, AMD has successfully developed it. After investing for several years in the laptop market, finally, the firm got everything that it needed to beat Intel and Nvidia. Started with its value-oriented APUs, AMD now has its effective Ryzen 4000 and 5000 CPUs. And the most effective part is its Radeon RX 6000M graphics. RX 6000M graphics provides the horsepower to GPU and AMD to beat Nvidia’s recent RTX Peripheral/hardware devices.

Finally, you can find a gaming notebook that includes both graphics and AMD CPU. This is something that neither Intel offers nor Nvidia offers yet. And the best part is that it is available at affordable prices. This will eventually cut down the gaming price over the board.

Pros and Cons of the ROG Strix G15

Pros:

Cons:

  1. Ray tracing is slower than Nvidia.
  2. Doesn’t include a nice keyboard.

Initially, I didn’t expect too much from this gaming laptop. Well, Strix G15 is fairly average comparatively with Zephyrus G15 and Zephyrus Duo. The design of Strix is so appealing and a little uninspired.

CPU: The CPU configuration of this gaming laptop is 8-core (AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX).

RAM: It has a RAM configuration of 16GB DDR4/3200.

Weight and Dimensions: The weight of the Strix G15 gaming laptop is – 5.1 pounds, and the 280-watt AC adapter is 2.1 pounds. The dimensions are 14 x 10.25 x 0.8 inches.

Design and Development

If you want a thin and full-aluminum body gaming notebook then Strix G15 is not the right choice for you. Because it is a thick and a bit heavy gaming notebook. In Strix, only the keyboard deck and lid are made up of aluminum. The sides and bottom are made up of plastic.

The AC adapter is notably considerable if it has 2.1 pounds weight for power bricks. Well, you can also charge your Strix notebook with a 100-watt (USB-C) charger. But the experience will not be the same as with a 280-watt charger.

The Strix G15 advantage version comprises a thick-sized body to perform the cooling function. As per the company, Strix has included the more powerful liquid metal thermal interface on both The GPU and the CPU. However, gaming notebooks with enhanced liquid metal on the CPU were introduced a few years ago. But no company has used the liquid-metal interface material on the GPU so far.

Performance

After the specs and the design of the Strix gaming laptop, now it’s time to reveal its performance.

For performance testing, it underwent a range of synthetic and In-game standards. I set up the laptop on turbo performance mode and plugged it into wall power to avoid any power lags. Plus, every game was set to ultra-mode except the Metro Exodus.

Can you imagine? The tests blew my mind away. The Strix G15 competed with Alienware M17 R4 effectively. Alienware M17 R4 is one of the best and most costly gaming laptops currently available in the market.

The Strix’s performance lies between 3080 and RTX 3070. However, with the price of $1650, this performance is pretty good.
