Android 12 Redesign: The Biggest Makeover in Years

The world is taken up by storm with Google announcing so many things coming in the annual developer event Google I/O. In this blog, we will include a ton of announcements related to Google products, with Android 12 getting a lot of the Spotlight.

Google confirmed that the new Android version would feature a wildly different visual overhaul. Now when the users upgrade to the new version of OS, they will see a wholly unique Android, unlike anything you have ever seen. This starts with the launch of the first beta software:

Android 12: A more personal and special experience

Here we are going to dig into various new features and aspects of Android 12. But first, we have to understand the overall mantra of Google to change everything. One of the things that differentiate Google’s Android from Apple’s iOS is the ability for users to make operating systems of their own. Through different things like custom launchers, icon packs, or even simple things like changing the color scheme. Everyone’s Android looks different as per their customization.

Colour Extraction and Customization

Right now, the new update offers for you to change the color scheme of your phone. This includes various things like buttons, the Quick tiles and in the notification shade, and many more things. Unfortunately, in Android 11, you need to change these yourself, and some aspects of the OS won’t be affected.

But now, with the new update in Android 12. Android will analyze your wallpaper and will perform a color extraction. This means that the system will determine and complementary colors that make up your wallpaper and then automatically apply those colors to the system.

This takes out all the work you do to customize your phone out of the picture. You just have to change the wallpaper, and the system will instantly change the colors of buttons, widgets, backgrounds, icons, highlights, and more to watch.

Lock Screen, AOD, and transitions

AOD (Always on Display) is introduced with the new look in Android 12. Now the lock screen will have a matching clock. You might also think that this enormous widget doesn’t look good, but it serves a practical purpose.

Let us give you an example; as you will receive a notification, the watch will transition to the top left corner of the display to make room for it. With this feature, you can just see and tell if you have a notification or not; the enormous clock widget won’t be a problem for you.

Different shades of Notification

If the AOD clock widget surprised you, then wait for this newly redesigned notification shade in Android 12. For the first time now, the notification bar has gotten a total makeover bringing its design in line with the Power Menu of Android 11.

We think you have already noticed the design change to the new Quick tiles from the circle icons. The tiles are more rounded rectangles now, which allows them to contain more information to appear with each one.

Conclusion

There are a lot of big things and changes coming, but we have to keep in mind that this it’s just the beginning of something new. We are in the beta version. For now, it will be months before we see the stable version of Android 12, and we don’t know for sure from now till then what will google add or take away between now and then. Hope you find this information useful. Thank you for the read.
