Android Security Updates for Google Pixel

 Google has detailed the most recent Android Security Bulletin and made the fixes available for Pixel devices.

These are exploits and other security issues that affect the entire Android platform. Issues with the operating system, kernel patches, and driver updates may not affect any specific device, but they must be addressed in the Android base by the people who maintain the operating system code. That’s Google, and they’ve detailed the improvements they’ve made for this month.

Updated factory images for Pixel devices that are supported are now available, and users are receiving over-the-air updates. If you don’t want to wait, manually download and flash the factory image or OTA update file, and here are some step-by-step instructions to help you get started.

These changes have been available to the best Android phone makers for at least 30 days, but Google cannot compel anyone to deliver them to you. If you own a Samsung, LG, or another manufacturer other than Google’s phone, you must wait for an update and should not attempt to flash any of the above files.

It may have already occurred, as OEMs can send out the patch ahead of the deadline Google must adhere to prevent the exploits from being publicized.

June 2021 Security Update Bulletin

The Android Security Bulletin for June 202 details several security flaws ranging in severity from high to critical. We’ve seen in the past, many of the disclosed vulnerabilities lack accompanying documentation that explains what’s affected and how the patch addresses the issue.

Pixel Update Bulletin/Functional Update

Google has added unique features to the Pixel update, in addition to providing information about vulnerabilities in the general Android Security Update Bulletin. Pixel Feature Drops are released every three months, so the most recent monthly update is a more exciting affair than usual.

If you own one of the supported Pixel models, you should begin receiving the June 2021 security update right away. Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and Pixel 5 are all included. The build numbers for each Pixel device are as follows:

  • Pixel 3 (XL): RQ3A.210605.005

  • Google Pixel 4 (XL): RQ3A.210605.005

The Android Security Update for June 2021 is Now Available for Pixel Phones.

This new update contains several bug fixes. Google has finally released the June 2021 Android security update for the Pixel 3 and newer Pixel phones, albeit a little late compared to previous months.

According to Google, this update contains “several fixes and improvements across many areas, including performance, stability, battery life, and more.” Owners of the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 should see fixes for a notification sound fluctuation bug, as well as a bug fix that caused the video to stop playing in some third-party apps.
